It looks like Empire Magazine is celebrating ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug‘ in style this month with 4 separate covers dedicated to the film! In fact if you want to include the special mash-up cover with all 4 characters available exclusively to subscribers of the magazine, it would be 5 different covers in all!

Personally I think the subscribers really have it best here. Though if I was going to buy one myself I’d probably go with the Gandalf cover. Let’s take a look at what you can get, shall we?

In order we have the first 4 magazine covers finalized with the compilation piece. We have Richard Armitage (‘Captain America: The First Avenger‘) reprising his role as Thorin Oakenshield in Mirkwood, Ian McKellen (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past‘) once again as Gandalf the Grey in the dark domain of Dol Guldur. Martin Freeman (‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘) playing Bilbo holding onto Sting while he sneaks through Smaug’s lair in Erebor. And the last one is one of the few shouts out there of Luke Evans (‘Immortals‘) in his portrayal of Bard the Bowman. Lastly, they combine the four characters, as well as a certain eagle, against the Lonely Mountain.

If you were going to be picking up one of these issues which cover would you snag?

‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, on an epic quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Having survived the beginning of their unexpected journey, the Company continues East, encountering along the way the skin-changer Beorn and a swarm of giant Spiders in the treacherous forest of Mirkwood. After escaping capture by the dangerous Wood-elves, the Dwarves journey to Lake-town, and finally to the Lonely Mountain itself, where they must face the greatest danger of all – a creature more terrifying than any other; one which will test not only the depth of their courage but the limits of their friendship and the wisdom of the journey itself – the Dragon Smaug.

‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’ is directed by Peter Jackson and will open in theaters on December 11, 2013.
