Fox’s new science fiction police drama ‘Almost Human’ will debut on November 17th and in anticipation, the network is rolling out a series of videos that highlight the major characters.  Fox really appears to be banking on this new series, launching it after NFL football before moving the show to its normal time slot, the following night, after stalwart series ‘Bones’.

In the latest clip, we get to know Rudy Lom, the scientist responsible for creating the android police officers signature to the program.  The part is played by Mackenzie Crook, perhaps best known for the original British version of ‘The Office’.  (He played Gareth Keenan, the “Dwight” of that series.)

As the actor expresses in the video “I’ve done a lot of period stuff in the past.  I want to go to the future,” refering to the show’s futuristic setting.

The show is set in 2048 and Crook describes his genius character as “the brains behind the operation.”  He also says of his lab rat character “I don’t get to see the light of day very often.”

He describes the futuristic setting as “a tough world.”  In reaction, Rudy Lom “has made a cocoon around himself… he doesn’t really have to deal with this crazy world that’s going on outside of his four walls.”

You can watch the behind-the-scenes video below.

In addition to Crook, ‘Almost Human’ stars Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, Lili Taylor, Michael Irby  and Minka Kelly.  The show launches on Sunday, November 17th.
