It looks like the latest set pics from ‘Game of Thrones’ is full set on Emilia Clarke in her portrail as Daenerys Targaryen or Khaleesi as well as her armor of The Unsullied. The last set of pictures were a bit more varied on focus but both sets are just making me want ‘Game of Thrones’ to start back up!
The scenes are being shot in the cellars of Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Croatia, as well as an outdoor view with The Sullied preparing for battle.
While new fans may be ready for Daenerys Targaryen to march her army upon the lands of Westeros it’s a bit too early in the plot for that to happen. Readers of the series may have a few guesses at what scenes are here.
Potential Spoilers Ahead
I’m going to be as vague as possible but can’t be completely with my theory of what we’re seeing. In the novel there is a bit of issues with Meereen and her slaves. Instead of being able to continue her plans for war, she instead must go there.
Also at a MUCH later date in the novels, we see Khaleesi locking up her dragons in dungeons. It should be too early for that to happen but that doesn’t mean they are moving portions of the novels around. It wouldn’t be the first time. Could these cellars be being used as the dungeon for her to do just that? It’d be a great end cap for the season if she’s taken charge and has to put her dragons in chains from no longer being able to fully control them.
End Potential Spoilers
While there is clearly a focus on Khaleesi here, she, of course, won’t be the sole character being featured. We know that The Hound’s brother, Gregor Clegane will switch actors from Ser Gregor Clegane to Hafthor Julius Bjornsson. We’ll also be seeing the return of 4 characters who have been missing for awhile: Lysa Arryn (who was creepily breast feeding her son still when we last saw her), Rorge (one of the criminals that were locked up to join the Night’s Watch), Janos Slynt (the commander of King’s Landing Gold Cloaks who happily executed Robert Baratheon’s bastard children), and Ser Alliser Thorne who was sent with the White Walker’s cut off hand to warn the Kingdoms.
