Last year, Joss Whedon said that he would be working on a sequel to his sensational internet musical ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog’ in the summer. However, things got shifted around once ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ got greenlit and they entered fully into production. But despite working on the new show on ABC, ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’, and various other Marvel movies, the filmmaker has managed to find time to work on the follow up to the 2008 film starring Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and Felicia Day with his brother and sister-in-law, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, who now have an update on the long-awaited project.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the executive producers of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ revealed that they have not forgotten about the newest member of the Evil League of Evil. In fact, they have actively been putting in work despite being as busy as the older Whedon, who is currently in pre-production on his follow up to ‘The Avengers’. Here are the latest developments on Captain Hammer’s nefarious nemesis:

Tancharoen: We wish we could be doing everything at the same time, but it’s always something that is in our hearts and always something we desperately want to do. But now Joss is away. He’s in London prepping, and we are here everyday consumed by this. But there are about six songs ready to go.

Whedon: In some form or another, it will exist. Obviously we’ve been saying that for a long time and it’s been slow going. But we never forget. It lives in our hearts.

Tancharoen: I will play Groupie #1 before you can call it Old Hag #1 (laughs).

Well, even though it’s not done yet, it’s good to hear that there are songs that are finished. It’s also good to know that the creative forces behind ‘Dr. Horrible’ are committed to getting the next one made. Hopefully, we’ll see it sooner rather than later, but at least we’ll see it eventually.

What do you hope to get out of the next chapter in Dr. Horrible’s life? Are there any theories out there on what the Whedons have in store for the sequel? Or do you have your own ideas that you hope they explore whenever the film is finally released? Sound off in the comments.
