The Twitter feed for the ‘X-Men’ movies has released another gem to whet fans’ appetites for the upcoming all-star ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ which hits theaters on May 23, 2014.

The Sentinels are hulking machines designed to track down and detain mutants, but at least in the comics, this programing is frequently overridden to allow them to kill their prey.

These automatons are designed by Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage) and manufactured by his company Trask Industries, who have a viral website set up with information about the fictional company.

This is how the website describes The Sentinels:

“In 1973, Trask Industries introduced the first Sentinel production model, the Mark I. Bolivar Trask’s groundbreaking research in AI, robotics and autonomous ballistic systems laid the foundation for the world’s most capable anti-mutant defense system. Since the program’s inception, we’ve continued to advance our founder’s cause through eight additional generational upgrades and enhancements.

As we celebrate five decades of achievement, we also bid farewell to regular production of the Mark I and shift our efforts to full-time manufacturing of the Mark X — our first complete overhaul of the Sentinel line. These highly anticipated units will combine next-generation nanotechnology and bioweapon breakthroughs, promising an even brighter future for the human race.”

A couple of weeks ago, director Bryan Singer posed for a photo with a towering life-size Sentinel from the movie and close ups of the Sentinel’s heads were first unveiled at Comic Con. Now in a cool extra, the plans of what’s inside a Sentinel’s head have been released.

In a sign of intense attention to detail, check  out the blueprint detailing the robots’ inner workings:

I wish the image were a bit larger.  Even increasing the size, it’s sort of hard to read.  Even so, they really didn’t need to create a blueprint to begin with, seeing as how the robots aren’t real and don’t actually have to function the way they will onscreen.  Anyway, this is a nice bonus for fans.

Coming to theaters on May 23, 2014, X-Men: Days of Future Past is directed by Bryan Singer and stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman and Lucas Till.
