Fresh off the news last week that Edgar Wright’s final film in the Cornetto Trilogy, The World’s End, would be released sooner than expected. A batch of new pictures hit the internet to show off what the cast is up to in this end of the world comedy.

Following the exploits of a group of reuniting friends on a pub crawl, this film brings frequent Wright collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Gary and Andy together with Paddy Considine as Steven, Eddie Marsan as Peter, and Bilbo Baggins himself, Martin Freeman, as Oliver. In a recent issue of Empire Magazine, Pegg runs down the cast list and tells us a bit about each man:

“Olly, or O-Man as he was known, was part of the gang by chance. He was welcomed in for having a fit sister and chose to stay because it suited him. He is now an estate agent and is unsentimental about the past. Particularly about Gary.

Steve was Gary’s fellow rock star in training. They were similar back in the day: cool, good-looking, into the same girls – particularly Oliver’s sister, Sam. Steven is now an architectural consultant and hasn’t seen or heard from Gary in a very long time.

Andy was Gary’s best friend – they have known each other the longest. Their relationship formed the backbone of the group. Andy is now a successful lawyer and has not spoken to Gary in years.

Peter hung around with Gary at school because he struggled to fit in elsewhere. He knew Gary enjoyed coming over and playing with his expensive toys and swimming in his pool, but he was happy to have a purpose in the group. Now co-owns a car showroom with his father.”

In addition to the character descriptions, the new pictures accompanied the article. Simon Pegg is the main focus of two shots, whereas the whole group is shown in the other two. You can check out those pictures in the gallery below:

Certainly nothing Earth-shattering is being released at this point, like the rumored zombie dance numbers, but it is very cool to see that this film that has been actively in the works for the past ten months is making some big strides. Hopefully, we’ll have our first trailer by Comic-Con this summer, but we’ll probably get it way beforehand since the movie was moved up to August.
