William Shatner is never one to shy away from giving his opinion on various subjects especially when it comes to his beloved ‘Star Trek’ franchise. Remember that YouTube feud between him and Carrie Fisher? So it comes to no surprise that when asked about his thoughts on  J.J. Abrams now also helming ‘Star Wars: Episode VII,’ he didn’t hold back.

During a press junket to promote the film ‘Escape from Planet Earth’ where Shatner voices the evil General Shanker, the former Captain of the Enterprise gave his thoughts of Abrams now in control of the two biggest franchise in the sci-fi genre:

“He’s being a pig. He’s collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest. He’s probably the most talented director of that ilk that we have, but he’s gone too far this time”

Those who are familiar with Shatner’s wit will realize this is all tongue in cheek, especially as he goes on and explains how he needs to take Abrams out for sushi to have him realize the rather foolish move of the director for not taking advantage of a large casting opportunity:

“I think of him as a buddy of mine. I’ve taken him out for sushi. I think it’s time for J.J. and I to have another sushi and let me put him straight about two of the largest franchises. And not employing me in either one of them, I think, is just foolhardy.”

You can watch the rather humorous exchange in the player below and let us know what you think about his comments.

Now if we can only get a response from Carrie Fischer ….
