Though you may not know his name just yet, Eddie Redmayne dished out some phenomenal performances in last year’s ‘My Week With Marilyn’ and this year’s ‘Les Miserables’ and is so ready for a breakout role. Currently, his name is being thrown around for a role in James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ for Marvel, but another career-making opportunity may be at the young man’s doorstep as well with two well known filmmakers with the last name Wachowski.
According to Variety, Redmayne is in talks to join the cast of ‘Jupiter Ascending’, a 3D IMAX film from the brother and sister team known for ‘The Matrix’ trilogy and this year’s ‘Cloud Atlas’. Starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, this new film is “set in a time where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder and follows a woman who has been targeted for assassination by the queen of the universe”. Tatum is said to be playing the bounty hunter chasing the woman, played by Kunis, because “she possesses the same perfect genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe and is therefore a threat to her otherwise immortal rule.”
It’s unclear who the young British actor would be playing if they close the deal, but after ‘Les Mis’ opens to much fanfare and even more critical acclaim next week, it’s likely that he’ll be a welcomed addition to the cast and another great name to put on a poster.
Lana and Andy are looking to begin production on ‘Jupiter Ascending’ in early 2013, so it’s likely that we’ll be getting more details on this project sooner rather than later.
