Earlier this month, it was revealed that Marvel Studios had assembled a shortlist of actors to test for the role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ film. Since that news leaked, Lee Pace, who can be seen right now in ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’, confirmed that he auditioned for James Gunn’s team of intergalactic defenders. Now, another actor comes forward to confirm that he went out for the role.

In an interview with MTV to promote his new film ‘Not Fade Away’, Jack Huston confirmed that he went before the House of Ideas film division to potentially appear in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. The ‘Boardwalk Empire’ star, who sustained a broken rib on set of his most recent film, assured the interviewer that he could still play Star-Lord despite having “brittle bones”. Check out the full clip in which he mentions the audition below:

Aside from Pace and Huston, the other actors on the list of potential Star-Lords are Eddie Redmayne, Garrett Hedlund, Jim Sturgess, Joel Edgerton, James Marsden, and Sullivan Stapleton. At this point, it’s really anybody’s game, but a few names are starting to stand out more and more. Though initially I brushed off Redmayne in the role, he’s certainly gaining notoriety as ‘Les Miserables’ is gaining critical acclaim as one of the top films of 2012. Then there’s Hedlund, who recently signed on for ‘Tron 3’. Not that he can’t do both franchises, but one might factor into the other eventually.
