Last week, Trekkies got their first real look of J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Trek into Darkness’ when Paramount released what they called an “announcement” teaser for the film. Now they have released the official trailer for the film and it is as exciting and amazing as you would expect a ‘Star Trek’ trailer to be!

The trailer runs about a minute longer than the announcement teaser and contains a ton of new footage. But like the announcement teaser, it still doesn’t go into too much about what the film is about and who exactly is Benedict Cumberbatch’s John Harrison. But what it does do is remind and entice movie goers of how this next installment of ‘Star Trek’ will be action packed.

It begins rather seriously with a voice over from Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood) telling Kirk, “There’s greatness in you, but not an ounce of humility.  But there’s going to come a moment when you’re wrong about that.  And you’re going to get yourself, and everyone under your command, killed.” And so sets the tone of the film.

Does it look like Abrams has captured the spirit of ‘Star Trek’ with this sequel? And don’t forget,  if you want to see more of ‘Star Trek into Darkness,’ the first 9 minutes of the movie is being shown before screenings of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ and it is even more spectacular than the trailer below!
