It looks as though director Zack Snyder is changing his tune about just how involved the Superman from his new film ‘Man of Steel’ would fit into Warner Bros. planned ‘Justice League’ film. While he once said that the Superman from his film would be entirely different from the one featured in ‘Justice League’, things seem to be moving towards a more cohesive DC Universe on film! Perhaps DC has decided to take a page out of Marvel’s book after the success of ‘The Avengers’?

Back in March, Snyder stated that much like director Christopher Nolan’s Batman would not be featured in ‘Justice League’, the Superman from ‘Man of Steel’ would be set in his own separate film universe. He later followed up at San Diego Comic Con, saying that they were really “just trying to get Superman‘s house in order, and then see where it goes from there.” With ‘Man of Steel’ soaring into theaters in summer of 2013 and a summer 2015 release date just two short years later set for ‘Justice League’, the time difference seems to be pushing the two closer together than initially planned.

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Snyder revealed that the two projects now look to be much more intertwined than previously thought. “I don’t know how ‘Justice League’ is going to be handled. Honestly, I don’t.” said Snyder. “But ‘Man of Steel’ exists, and Superman is in it. I don’t know how you’d move forward without acknowledging that.” It seems as though we may have gone through a ‘Crisis of Infinite Supermen’ and combined both realities into one cohesive cinematic universe!

When asked directly just how closely the two projects tie together, Snyder replied “Um, how can I answer that? I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course.” It’s probably safe to assume that by “on course” he means that if ‘Man of Steel’ does well and audiences are responsive to Henry Cavill in the role, he will likely be making the jump into the upcoming ‘Justice League’ film. Some might think this sounds a bit more feasible than carrying on two separate live action Supermen in different film series.

So are Warner Bros. taking a page out of Marvel’s book and trying to create a cohesive cinematic universe using all their major players? Will ‘Man of Steel’ lay the foundation for ‘Justice League’ in the same manner that ‘Iron Man’ laid the groundwork for ‘The Avengers’? Will Cavill be filling in the blue spandex suit in both films? And the real question the fans are all clamoring about, where does this leave Ryan Reynolds’ Hal Jordan from ‘Green Lantern’ in the ‘Justice League‘ mix? Truly only time will tell!
