Ben Browder as Ted Gaynor in Arrow

Get ready DC fans as the producers of ‘Arrow’ are adding another villain to go up against the vigilante archer! Word has it that Ben Browder will be guest starring in an upcoming episode as Ted Gaynor. Those familiar with the DC comics universe will recall that Ted Gaynor was an officer in the US Marine Corp and a former member of the Blackhawk Squadron. He first appeared in the 1984 comic ‘Blackhawk #266’ and a couple years back, went up against Batman, Blackhawk and Lady Blackhawk and died in a fight with Blackhawk in ‘Batman Confidential #39.’

In ‘Arrow,’ the character will be somewhat altered and Ted Gaynor will be Diggle’s commanding officer from his first tour in Afghanistan. While Gaynor will not be a part of the Blackhawk Squadron in ‘Arrow,’ there is a nice nod to the comic version as he now works as a bodyguard for the Blackhawk Squad Protection Group in Starling City.

This isn’t Browder’s first foray into DC territory. In the past he’s voiced the character Bat Lash/Bartholomew Aloysius Lash for the ‘Justice League’ animated series. Browder has quickly become a sci-fi fan favorite starring in two long running sci-fi series: ‘Farscape (as Commander John Crichton) and ‘Stargate SG-1’ (as Colonel Cameron Mitchell). He’s also appeared on an episode of ‘Chuck’ and was last seen as Issac in the ‘Doctor Who’ episode ‘A Town Called Mercy.’

It will be awhile before Browder is seen as his character will appear in episode 11 called ‘Trust but Verify.’ The episode will deal with Gaynor becoming a “polarizing figure between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Diggle (David Ramsey)” as a series of truck robberies plague Starling City.

The addition of Browder as Gaynor is just one of an onslaught of villains being introduced in the first season of ‘Arrow.’ A promo released from the CW teases some of these upcoming Arrow enemies which you can see here. We’ve already seen China White in action (albeit briefly), Deadshot and last night was introduced to Deathstroke.  Also making an appearance will be The Huntress, Firefly, the Royal Flush Gang and Count Vertigo!

So it looks like there is no shortage of people Arrow can go up against! What do you think of Browder’s role?
