Filming has begun in Africa on George Miller’s upcoming film, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, and word has it that he has recruited Megan Gale to appear in the film.

This is not the first time Gale was to work with Miller. Several years ago, she was set to play Wonder Woman in Miller’s ‘Justice League’ movie. In fact, many of the key roles were already cast in the film which included Armie Hammer as Batman, D.J. Catrona as Superman, Adam Brody as The Flash, and Jay Baruchel and Teresa Palmer as villains. Unfortunately production was halted before any filming started due to budgetary concerns. Now she has been signed on by Miller to play an unknown part in this film.

Millar is hoping that ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ will be the first installment in a planned trilogy of films that will revitalize the Mad Max franchise. The film already has Tom Hardy (‘The Dark Knight Rises‘, ‘Inception’) as formidable Max Rockatansky, the role that was originated by Mel Gibson. Joining Hardy are Charlize Theron (‘Prometheus‘, ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’), and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’).

Along with the announcement of the addition of Gale, an official synopsis for the film was also released:

“Mad Max Fury Road” sees Mad Max (Hardy) caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the imperator Furiosa (Theron). A battle erupts on the road in front of them over the course of the film as they attempt to push the rig to safer terrain.

Whether or not Mel Gibson will have a cameo is yet to be revealed but it will be a nice nod to the franchise that pretty much boosted him to stardom.

No formal release date has been given for the film but it’s anticipated that it will be sometime next year.
