Remember that rumor about Mia Wasikowska up for the role of Johanna Mason in ‘Catching Fire?’ I guess rumor was the right word as we now hear that Waskilowska was not really in the running but a person who happens to be is Jena Malone. Also up for a role in the film is none other than former professional wrestling champion turned actor Kevin Nash.

According to EW, Wasikowska reps claim she was never approached for the role and even if she were, her film commitments for the rest of this year would not allow her to be available for filming. As a possible replacement, EW is reporting that Malone has been added to the list of actresses considered for the axe-wielding Johanna.

Mason is known to sci-fi fans as Rocket from the film ‘Sucker Punch’ and was seen just recently as Nancy McCoy in History Channel’s miniseries ‘Hatfields and McCoys.’ In ‘Catching Fire,’ Johanna is the tribute from District 7 who has “a wicked ability to murder,” and came out on top “by pretending to be weak and then picking off the other tributes.”

As for the other name linked to the role? Nothing has been denied nor confirmed about Zoe Aggeliki even though last reports had her as frontrunner.

Also in talks to appear for ‘Catching Fire’ is Kevin Nash. During the premiere of ‘Magic Mike,’ Nash revealed that he was in discussions with Lionsgate to be in the movie commenting “I just pray it’s recurring, that he doesn’t get killed.” While no mention of what part he would have in the film, many are guessing that he’s up for the role of Brutus, “the buff, 40-something District 2 champion who happily volunteers for the third Quarter Quell victors’ games.” Considering that Katniss killed his tribute in the last film, he has a bit of a grudge against the Hunger Games co-champion.

Of course Lionsgate will not give any official confirmation about casting reports but with the film to being shooting soon, I’m sure more rumors and a final word will come soon.
