It looks like the reboot of the superhero film ‘Daredevil’ is still in development as Deadline is reporting that 20th Century Fox has hired David James Kelly to rewrite the script.

A couple weeks ago, David Slade (‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’, ‘Awake’, ‘Hannibal’), who has been attached to direct the project for some time now, had tweeted that the development process was “going slow” and were “too boring to print.” Then rumor hit that Fox was looking for someone to rewrite the screenplay.

The original script, which was written by Brad Kane (‘Fringe’), apparently did not please the executives so they have been actively looking for someone to do a rewrite. They have decided on David James Kelly who is best known for polishing the script for the now defunct ‘Akira‘ movie.

The reboot is said to be based off the Frank Miller/David Mazzucchelli story ‘Born Again’ where The Kingpin uncovers Daredevil’s secret identity and uses it to turn Matt Murdoch’s life upside down. Since the movie is said to be a reboot, I’m curious to see how an origin story might be worked in with this plot.

With all the new superhero movies in production and development, hopefully the audience won’t have superhero burn out by the time ‘Daredevil’ comes out. The bar is raised pretty high with the likes of ‘The Avengers’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ all coming out this year so I would rather see a good ‘Daredevil’ film made without the rush rather than what we did see with Ben Affleck.

And since we’re on the subject of Affleck, who would you like to see in the title role in this reboot?
