Filming has already started on the movie ‘Hitchcock’ (formerly known as ‘Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho’) and we now have the first look of Sir Anthony Hopkins in full make-up as the iconic director.
The movie is based on the non-fiction book by Stephen Rebello which tells the true story of Hitchcock’s difficulties in his attempts to make the movie ‘Psycho.’ The story (as well as the movie) will also focus on the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife.
It’s hard to believe this is the same person who played Odin in ‘Thor’ or Hannibal Lector in ‘Silence of the Lambs’ but all I can say is that the make-up department for the movie outdid themselves as Hopkins’ resemblance to Hitchcock is pretty good. I’m hoping see what they will do with Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh and James D’Arcy as Anthony Perkins. You know that once those pics come out, we’ll have them for you!
‘Hitchcock’ has a bevy of high profile actors such as Helen Mirren (who’ll play Alma, Hitchcock’s wife), Jessica Biel as Vera Miles (the actress played the role of Lila Cane in ‘Psycho’), Toni Collette as Hitchcock’s assistant Peggy Robertson, Wallace Langham as designer Saul Bass, Kurtwood Smith as Geoffrey Shurlock, the administrator of the Motion Picture Production Code, Danny Huston as Whitfield Cook (friend of Hitchcock), Michael Stuhlbarg as Hitchcock’s agent Lew Wasserman and Michael Wincott as Ed Gien (the serial killer the movie ‘Psycho’ was based upon). Added to the cast yesterday was Ralph Macchio who will play the movie’s scribe Joe Stefano.
The movie is not slated to be released until next year but it already looks like it may be an Oscar worthy contender. So what do you think of Hopkins’ look?
