Looks like the TARDIS will be visiting the Wild West and this time the Doctor and the Ponds will meet none other than ‘Farscape’s Ben Browder! According to ‘Doctor Who Magazine,’ Browder will be appearing in the third episode of the upcoming season which is currently filming in Almeria, Spain.

Sci-fi fans will instantly recognize Browder as he has starred in two long running sci-fi series. He played John Crichton in ‘Farscape’ and Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell in ‘Stargate SG-1.’ He’s also appeared in an episode of ‘Chuck’ and voiced the role of Bat Lash/Bartholomew Aloysius Lash for one episode of the ‘Justice League’ animated series.

The episode that Browden will be starring in will take place during the Wild West era and will introduce audiences to a “half-human half-robot Terminator-style beast which patrols a Victorian-era western town.”  Also appearing in this episode are Adrian Scarborough (‘Upstairs, Downstairs’) as Kahler-Jex, Dominic Kemp in the role of Kahler-Mas and Rob Cavazos as Walter. The episode was written by Toby Whithouse (creater and writer for both the UK and US versions of ‘Being Human’ as well as the writer for the ‘Doctor Who’ episodes ‘School Reunion’, ‘The Vampires of Venice’ and ‘The God Complex’).

The desert landscape of Almeria, Spain has been used in many spaghetti westerns in the past most notably ones that starred famed Clint Eastwood such as ‘A Fistful of Dollars’ and ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly,’ so it seems like the perfect place to film this episode – although it would have been great if they could have come to America again! At least it gives the 11th Doctor another reason to wear his Stenson and you know, ‘Stetsons are cool!”

So with the addition of Browder, there’s a lot of excitement swirling around this episode of ‘Doctor Who!’ I’m excited to see his part in the show and with Whithouse writing, this will be an enjoyable episode. It does make me wonder, though, since he did write ‘School Reunion’ and ‘The God Complex’ both episodes where the Doctor had to say goodbye to a companion, does this mean this is the episode where the Ponds will make their exit?
