After gracing the WWE Universe with several spot-on promos on last night’s Monday Night Raw, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has added some new projects to his slate of acting endeavors that will help him continue his campaign of #Boots2Asses.

As previously reported, The Rock was in talks to join Brett Ratner’s adaptation of Steve Moore’s graphic novel ‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’. Courtesy of Variety, we find out today that things have been made official and we will be seeing The Great One step into the role of the scorned demi-god. Shooting is set to commence in October in New Zeland.

In addition to that role, Deadline tells us that the Captain of Team Bring It has signed on to star in the action thriller ‘Ciudad’, an upcoming Oni Press graphic novel from Joe and Anthony Russo, who are also attached to direct the film from a script written by Joe. The story will follow Johnson as a black market mercenary hired by a Brazilian drug lord to rescue his kidnapped daughter.

This is a bit of a departure for the Russo Brothers, who have been working on beloved comedies ‘Community’ and ‘Arrested Development’. This film will be their first feature since 2006’s ‘You, Me, And Dupree’. On working on an unfamiliar genre, the Russos said:

“Exploring genre has always been a driving motivation for us as filmmakers. This movie is the culmination of a long time ambition to bring our sensibilities to an action thriller.”

With ‘Journey 2’ out in theaters now, ‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ coming out this summer, a main event match at Wrestlemania against John Cena in about three weeks, ‘Pain and Gain”, ‘Snitch’, and now these two movies, it seems like The Most Electrifying Man In All of Entertainment won’t have very much time to spend in his Smackdown Hotel for quite some time.
