Looks like the casting for what is hoped to be Warner Bros. next supernatural post ‘Twilight’ franchise is heating up! Variety is reporting that Emmy Rossum is in final negotiations to star in the movie ‘Beautiful Creatures.’

Rossum is currently starring in the Showtime drama ‘Shameless’ with William H. Macy and has appeared in the movies ‘Dragonball: Evolution’ and ‘The Day After Tomorrow.’  She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Christine in the movie musical ‘The Phantom of the Opera.’

‘Beautiful Creatures’ is based on the first novel of a book series from Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and centers on two teenagers, Ethan (played by Jack O’Connell) and Lena Duchannes (played by Alice Englert). Rossum will play Ridley, the cousin of Lena who becomes a dark witch on her 16th birthday causing the two to become enemies.

Once the deal is finalized, Rossum will be joining a stellar team which includes Oscar winner Emma Thompson and Oscar nominee Viola Davis.

Richard LaGravenese (‘Water for Elephants’) who adapted the book for the movie will be directing. Production is said to start sometime next month in New Orleans.
