The family of ‘Isabel’ is quickly coming together as Marcia Gay Harden has now been added as the family’s matriarch.

Harden will play Francis, the mother of a middle class family who wrestles with the challenges of everyday life and the challenges of raising her daughter Isabel (Sophia Schloss of ‘Grimm’ ) who has magical abilities. She joins Abigail Mavity (‘Zeke & Luther’, ‘Summerland’) who will play her older daughter Karen and Skyler Gisondo (‘The Amazing Spiderman’, ‘The Bill Engle Show’) who will play Eric, her son.

Harden won an Oscar for her role in “Pollack” as well as a Saturn Award for Best Support Supporting Actress for her work on ‘The Mist’ and a Tony Award for ‘God of Carnage.’ She’s also been nominated for two Emmy Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Mostly known for her dramatic roles, ‘Isabel’ will be the third pilot (and the second comedy one) that Harden has signed on for. Last year, she filmed the ABC sitcom pilot ‘Smothered’ and in 2008 filmed the CBS pilot ‘The Tower.’ Neither was picked up as a series.

Who knows? Maybe third time is a charm and ‘Isabel’ will have the magic needed to make it on air?
