The comic world has been set abuzz over the past few months. First Marvel kills off the Spider-Man of the ultimate universe in ‘Ultimate Comics Spider-Man’ #160. Then they go on to reveal that there is a new Spidey in town and that it’s not Peter Parker or a clone. Instead, Marvel made history by making the new Spider-Man into a young half-black, half-hispanic kid by the name of Miles Morales.

Miles makes his first appearance as Spider-Man in ‘Ultimate Fallout’ #4. In that issue, we weren’t given much to go on. What are the new Spidey’s powers? How is he related to Peter Parker if at all? What we did get was a lot of New Yorkers telling Miles that his parading around in Spider-Man’s classic costume was in bad taste in light of Peter Parker’s death.

Miles must’ve taken the criticism to heart as the cover to the new ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ #1 revealed (above). Today we’re given the second glimpse at the new Spider-Man costume in Sara Pichelli’s variant cover to the milestone first issue (below). I think it looks pretty sweet and am excited to see how Miles lives up the legacy. He’s got some pretty huge shoes to fill.
