According to the Hollywood Reporter, Alloy Entertainment is working with producer Howard Gordon and writer-director James Wong on ‘2084’.

The book trilogy was created by Gordon and Wong with first-time writer Gregg Rosenblum writing the books and HarperCollins publishing.

The story is being described as a mashup of ‘1984’ and ‘The Terminator’. Set in 2084, the human population is now under the complete control of robots. These robots had initially been created to help humans and fight wars but their role now was that of ‘Big Brother’.

Gordon is no stranger to science fiction and action projects. His credits include ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘The X-Files’, ‘Strange World’, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, ‘Angel’, ’24’ and the upcoming ‘Awake’.

Wong is also a longtime science fiction writer-director whose credits include ‘The X-Files’, ‘The Event’, ‘Final Destination 3, ‘The One’, and ‘Space:Above and Beyond’.

No word yet if Gordon and Wong will be writing the script or if Wong will direct as well. We’ll keep you posted.
