According to the Los Angeles Times, actress Anne Francis has died in Santa Barbara, California at the age of 80 from pancreatic cancer.
The actress is well known for roles such as “Altaira” in the classic ‘Forbidden Planet’ and as the star of ‘Honey West’, the first weekly television series to feature a female detective (1965).
Francis appeared in more than 30 movies and many television series such as ‘Brainstorm’, ‘The Rocket Man’, ‘Twilight Zone’, ‘Alfred Hitchcock Presents’,’ The Invaders’, and ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’.
After reading Jack Kirby’s Forever People and New Gods comic books and watching 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dirk was assimilated during first grade recess into the collective known as Science Fiction.
