Superman Lois Lane Elseworlds

A few weeks ago, Melissa Benoist shared a candid picture of herself, Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch from the set of the Arrowverse ‘Elseworlds’ crossover.  Now, The CW has unveiled the first official image of Hoechlin as Superman and Tulloch as Lois Lane, standing in the Fortress of Solitude.  Tulloch, dressed in all loose-fitting white, appears to be channeling Margot Kidder from ‘Superman: The Movie’.

While Hoechlin has been a presence on ‘Supergirl’ since last season, the ‘Elseworlds’ crossover will mark Tulloch’s debut as Lois, but this could just be the first step to a larger role, as this event is being eyed as a backdoor pilot for an ongoing ‘Superman’ TV series.  If that happens, expect to see a lot more of Tulloch’s Lois.

Hoechin’s Superman impressed longtime comic book fans, as this has been the first depiction of an experienced Man of Steel, who is a few years into his crime fighting career, in… well, a very long time.  Similarly, this romantic relationship has been going for a while, so there won’t be any of that meet-cute, falling in love stuff.  Hoechlin describes their relationship as “very strong.”  He went on to say:

“It’s deeper into the relationship, so there’s that comfortability factor and they know each other so well. They really kind of have a life together.”

‘Elseworlds’ is introducing a slew of new characters, including  Ruby Rose as Batwoman/Kate Kane, Jeremy Davies as Arkham Asylum doctor John Deegan, Bob Frazer as Psycho-Pirate, LaMonica Garrett as Mar Novu aka The Monitor and Cassandra Jean Amell as Mr. Freeze’s wife, Nora.

‘Elseworlds’ will begin on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at 8pm EST, on ‘The Flash’, which is flip-flopping nights with ‘Supergirl’ for this event.  Part two takes place on ‘Arrow’, which airs on its normal night and time on Monday, December 10, at 8pm, and will wrap up on Tuesday night, December 11, at 8pm, on ‘Supergirl’.  ‘Legends of Tomorrow‘ will not participate in this year’s crossover.
