Thanks to a panel at this year’s Television Critics Association summer press tour we’ve learned who some of the returning characters will be in ‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse.’
We’ve already learned that Jessica Lange would return as Constance from “Murder House” though I’m pretty sure fans would have loved to have seen her “Coven” character slightly more. Of course, it is always possible that she’ll be pulling double duty and we’ll see her in both parts.
Fans can have high hopes for this as we’ve learned that Sarah Paulson will be reprising her not only her Murder House role of Billie Dean but also Cordelia from Coven and a new character named Venerable as well.
EP Alexis Martin Woodall shares that the upcoming season “begins with the end of the world — and then our world begins.” Paulson also adds that Cordelia “is the Supreme [witch], for now, at the beginning of our story” though “I don’t know how long that is going to last.” This isn’t a confirmation that Lange’s character from “Coven” will be gone, just not in charge as the season kicks off.
We’ve also learned that Kathy Bates is set to play Ms. Meade with hair that is “meme-able, for sure” and Leslie Grossman will tackle Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt. We’ll see Billie Lourd as “Mallory, just Mallory” and Adina Porter is going to play Dinah Stevens. Evan Peters, Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, and Joan Collins are also set to appear with both Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Kyle Allen as guest stars.
We’ve already seen hints that Emma Roberts will return as Madison Montgomery from “Coven” and this has been confirmed and the actress shares that “I was told by the director to be bitchier, which I did not think was possible!”
A fun fact on other returning witches, there is no confirmation or denial from the rest, but Ryan Murphy “invited all the witches to return” so we could see a brief or significant inclusion of some of these actors.
It isn’t exactly a surprise to see anything “American Horror Story” related be a mystery though.
