Overlord

As most of J.J. Abrams’ films, we’ve had no idea what ‘Overlord’ was going to be about until now. It was rumored that this new Paramount Pictures film was set to be in the “Cloverfield” cinematic universe though that no longer appears to be the case. Set during World War 2 it looks like we’re going to be getting a bit of a Nazi Zombie movie instead of a film that puts humans against giant aliens or even advanced technology the likes of which we’ve yet to understand.

That’s right folks, another movie where we get to see Nazi Zombies get what is coming to them!

Julius Avery (‘Son of a Gun’) is directing the film based off of a screenplay which was penned by Billy Ray (‘Captain Phillips’) and Mark L. Smith (‘The Revenant’). There is some serious talent here from creatives that you wouldn’t normally expect to see working on this kind of a film which has me suspecting that there will be even more involved than what the trailer hints at.

You can check out the trailer right here!

The movie has a group of U.S. paratroopers who have a mission but end up finding Nazi’s trying to create zombies to use against the Allies. Obviously, things won’t go well for much of the cast.

While there is no indication that this movie will be part of the Cloverfield films, we all know that Abrams likes to keep things mysterious and throw in fun twists along the way. There is every chance that the movie could come to a close and suddenly a small fact will be thrown into the mix that will tie everything together with the other movies in the franchise so far.

Even if it doesn’t, this looks like a fun ride!

What do you think of the first trailer for ‘Overlord’? Was this the type of film that you were expecting it to be? Do you think it will still end up being part of the Cloverfield cinematic universe by the time the end credits roll? Share your thoughts below!

‘Overlord’ will be fighting its way into your local theaters on November 9th, 2018!
