Sharon Carter

While ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ was full of heroes and supporting characters we did notice that one who didn’t make the cut was Emily VanCamp‘s Sharon Carter and now we’ve learned why. Outside of knowing why she didn’t appear the movie didn’t even elaborate if Peggy Carter’s grandniece was one of half of the universe who survived Thanos snapping his fingers.

I suspect this means that she’ll still be around for the next installment instead of being just another casualty to help spur Steve Rogers forward.

According to Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, here’s the reason that Carter didn’t appear in the film:

“Sharon Carter was a victim of what we came to realize as we were writing it, which is that if you’re writing scenes that set up people before the story has gotten to them, such as Steve and Sharon trying to make it work in an apartment, they’re gonna go because the movie does not have time to catch up ‘previously on the life of Steve Rogers.'”

Honestly, I think we can all agree that this makes a lot of sense. Unless she had joined Rogers on the run, being an off-books Avenger, it wouldn’t feel right to shoehorn her in just about anywhere here. The only place it would have felt right would have been to stick her into the end-credit scene, and I’m not sure if they’d shown she had quite put herself in the position to have been riding along in that particular car quite yet.

Do you think that we’ll end up seeing Sharon Carter again when the still untitled ‘Avengers 4’ drops? Will she have survived the epic finger snap or will she be just another memory that haunts Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? If she does pop up in the next film do you think it will be in the present day after Thanos has had his way with reality or in the past? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
