happy

Syfy has been loving ‘Happy!’ and enough viewers seem to agree as the network has just renewed the series for a second season. The eight-episode freshmen season comes to a close this Wednesday, February 1st, 2018 and news of a sophomore season has already landed.

For those unfamiliar with the series, ‘Happy’ is based on Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel of the same name. Nick Sax “an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hitman – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy.”

The show was Syfy’s best new series launch since January of 2016 and has kept up high numbers across every demographic.

The show took to social media to share its own way to celebrate the good news:

That really is something to be happy about! President of Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Chris McCumber added:

“Happy! struck a chord with our SYFY audience and disrupted the TV landscape with its unique storytelling and outrageous performances led by Christopher Meloni. If people thought this season was crazy – I can’t wait for fans to see what Grant Morrison, Brian Taylor and the entire cast and crew have in store for Sax and Happy!”

No news on an episode count, new actors, or premiere date of the second season have been announced at this time. I’m sure we’ll be seeing all of those details slowly coming out over the next six months.

Are you glad to hear that ‘Happy!’ will be returning to the small screen for a second season? Do you think that the show will stray from the source material or try and stay faithful as it moves forward? Share your thoughts below!
