Last week, we learned that long-time nemesis of Green Arrow, Count Vertigo, would be appearing on the CW’s new superhero drama ‘Arrow’. When that announcement was made, the character was described as “truly scary and nightmarish” and the hero’s “deadliest adversary to date”, however, no name was attached to play the character. Now, thanks to TV Line, we can put a face to the name.
Seth Gabel, who is best known as Agent Lincoln Lee on Fox’s ‘Fringe’, will take up the mantle of Count Vertigo. Or, to be more accurate, he’ll take up the mantle of the character modeled after Count Vertigo. Previously, we learned that this version of the character will be so different from the comic version that he may have a different name altogether. However, it’s said that the drug that will be featured in his debut episode, which airs in early 2013, will be called Vertigo.
When I was thinking of who would play the role, I had imagined that Vertigo would be an older gentleman like Malcolm McDowell, but it appears that the CW went for a much younger take on the character, as they tend to do. We’ll see how it all turns out when the episode airs early next year.
Starring Katie Cassidy, Colin Donnell and Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer of the DC Universe, ‘Arrow’ airs on The CW on Wednesdays at 8:00pm.
