Jeremy Renner hawkeye

Add Jeremy Renner to the list of actors who have wrapped their parts on the still-untitled ‘Avengers 4’ (although Renner refers to it as ‘Infinity Wars’ (plural) but… that can’t be the name, can it?

At any rate, Renner posted a video on his Instagram to update fans.  In it, he says that “this is not a goodbye, only a see you later.”  He expresses excitement to see “how they put this together,” since much of these movies are shot against a green screen.  But he’s most excited to go home to see his daughter.

Some are wondering if Renner’s statement of “not a goodbye, only a see you later” is a hint of things to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  If taken that way, it would imply that Hawkeye survives the fourth ‘Avengers’ movie which arrives in theaters on May 3, 2019.  Renner recently reiterated that he is open to appearing in a ‘Hawkeye’ solo film, but that he wants to do so sooner than later.  “I don’t want to be in my 50s in tights,” he quipped.  Renner will turn 47 on Sunday.  (Happy Early Birthday, Jeremy!)  So note to Marvel: tick-tock-tick-tock.

But the reference may not mask any sort of Marvel-related teases or hints.  He may simply mean that fans can expect to see him in other movies in the near future.  He has already completed the ensemble comedy ‘Tag’ which arrives this summer which also stars Jon Hamm, Isla Fisher, Rashida Jones, Ed Helms and Jake Johnson.  He also provided the voice of the main character, Swifty the Arctic Fox, in the upcoming animated film ‘Arctic Justice’ which also features an all-star cast including Alec Baldwin, James Franco, Michael Madsen and Anjelica Huston.

But of course, comic fans are most excited about his upcoming appearances in the ‘Avengers’ movies.  ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ arrives on May 4.  ‘Avengers 4’ appears to be nearing completion of filming.  Other actors who have checked in as having wrapped their portions of the film include Paul Bettany (The Vision), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow) and Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff/the Scarlet Witch).  This film arrives a year, almost to the day, after ‘Infinity War’ on May 3, 2019.

What do you think or hope the future holds for Renner’s Hawkeye?
