It has been confirmed that Jeremy Renner will reprise his role as Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, in Anthony and Joe Russo’s untitled ‘Avengers 4.’ Renner first made his debut as the famous Marvel Comics archer in Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Thor’ in 2011 and then reprised his role in Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers’ in 2012 and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ in 2015. The character’s appearance in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ in 2016 changed everything, as Hawkeye was imprisoned on The Raft and became a fugitive upon his escape.
Renner will first return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for 2018s ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ This highly-anticipated superhero team-up film will feature the Earth’s mightiest heroes as they unite with the Guardians of the Galaxy for an ultimate showdown with the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his loyal Black Order.
Thanos seeks to acquire all six Infinity Stones spread throughout the galaxy and affix them to the Infinity Gauntlet, thus making him an omnipotent and omniscient being. Considering the theory that Thanos is expected to kill at least one main character in the film, many people assumed that would be Hawkeye. While that may be the truth, we now know for sure that Jeremy Renner is still reprising his role for the fifth time in ‘Avengers 4.’
Renner posted a photo on his Instagram of his silhouette while wearing the Hawkeye costume, thus confirming his involvement in the forthcoming ‘Avengers’ installment. Take a look:
The untitled ‘Avengers 4’ film is scheduled to wrap production in January 2018. For now, though, audiences can look forward to Renner’s next appearance as Hawkeye in ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ due out in May 2018.
