jeff goldblum thor ragnarok

They might be “friends from work” but Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) must still come to blows when they are unleashed in The Grandmaster’s (Jeff Goldblum) gladiator arena, in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’.  Though he’s built like an action hero, Hemsworth has been exploring his comedic side in films like ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Vacation’, not to mention the ‘Team Thor’ video clip released online last year.  Add to that the fact that director Taika Waititi comes from the world of comedy directing episodes of ‘Flight of the Conchords’ and working further with ‘Conchords’ star Jemaine Clement on various projects including the cult favorite vampire spoof ‘What We Do In The Shadows’.

But lest you think ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ will be a long laugh riot, this latest clip puts the emphasis on the action.  Not only do we see Thor and The Hulk trading blows in the arena (and not holding back from the look of things) but we get to see some additional battle footage featuring Hela (Cate Blanchett) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson).

Strap in and get ready to rumble:

We’re still a little over two months away from this film’s release, but Disney/Marvel Studios are really pushing this threequel.  They really don’t need to.  Whereas certain new properties like ‘Ant-Man’ and ‘Doctor Strange’ might have needed a little extra push to raise awareness, ‘Ragnarok’ features two Avengers  fan favorites, Thor and The Hulk.  People are going to show up.  There is also a going to be at least a small cameo from another Marvel hero and even some connection to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2’.  If you sat through all of the end credits of ‘GotGv2’ you probably spotted Goldblum’s Grandmaster scroll past even though he didn’t actually appear in the film.

Are you ready to ‘Rok?

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Karl Urban, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Jamie Alexander, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, and Mark Ruffalo strikes theaters on November 3, 2017.
