thor: ragnarok

This isn’t much of a spoiler, since it was set up in last year’s ‘Doctor Strange’, but there is a cameo in the new Japanese trailer for ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ (or ‘Mighty So: Battle Royale’ as it’s called there).  In the post-credits sequence from ‘Doctor Strange’, the Sorcerer Supreme and the God of Thunder had a little chat, which laid the groundwork for ‘Ragnarok’.

Of course, true fans mostly knew what to expect in the upcoming movies, but not everyone is as die-hard (hell, there are still people who get up and leave as soon as the credits start!).  Not everyone knew to expect a new ‘Thor’ movie which would explain why neither of The Avengers’ two most powerful members were nowhere to be found during ‘Captain America: Civil War’.

Sadly, ‘Ragnarok’ is still like FOREVER away!  Well, by that I mean over two whole months.  And this teaser may be the juiciest yet!  Check it out below:

Yep, it’s right there in the beginning, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange hovering in front of the signature window of the Sanctum Sanctorum, with his Cloak of Levitation fluttering majestically.  Of course, it’s not clear what role Strange will play in ‘Ragnarok’.  Clearly he isn’t present in the Grandmaster’s (Jeff Goldblum) gladiator arena or in Asgard when Hela (Cate Blanchett) launches her assault on… well, everything.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and, bizarrely enough, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) must team up to take on Hela the Goddess of Death, who is aided by Skurge (Karl Urban) and fiery demon giant Surtur.

The events of this film will then lead into next summer’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.  Exactly how?  That we’ll have to wait and see.  And… it’ll probably be in the post-credits scene(s), so make sure to stick around for that!

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ directed by Taika Waititi starring Chris Hemsworth, Karl Urban, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Jamie Alexander, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, and Mark Ruffalo strikes theaters on November 3, 2017.
