Will Smith loves doing science fiction films and hopefully Ang Lee’s ‘Gemini Man‘ will bring him back to showing off his acting chops. The downside though is that we’ll have to wait until 2019 to see if that will happen or not when Paramount releases the film. You heard that right, Paramount Pictures, Skydance, and Jerry Bruckheimer Films are working together to bring the movie out on October 4th, 2019.

‘Gemini Man’ has been in pre-development for two decades, and since Skydance had come on board last year, things have been steadily moving forward. We know that Lee had joined last April and with having won and been nominated for multiple Academy Awards, it should come as no surprise that the next film he is doing will be released in time for award season as well.

The film has an interesting plot that at first sounds just like a spy thriller as we follow an NSA agent who is getting on in age and wants to retire. The only problem is that retirement means he’s been targeted for death and things take a turn into our genre when he discovers that the assassin sent to take him out is actually a younger clone of himself.

With Disney’s recent advances in anti-aging technology which has been used in films such as ‘Iron Man 3’ and ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,’ it should come as no surprise that we’d start seeing original ways that this would pop up elsewhere.

Are you happy to hear that ‘Gemini Man’ is finally happening? Is 2019 enough time to generate the right buzz for an idea that was initially pushed in the 90’s? Share your thoughts below!
