We’ve been hearing rumors that a new take on Rogue might be showing up in ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix‘ and while it doesn’t look like Anna Paquin would be reprising the role, one has to ask if she could be making an appearance in Fox’s upcoming series ‘The Gifted‘. The idea makes sense as Stephen Moyer is a major part of the show and also happens to be Paquin’s husband. It looks like ‘The Gifted’ takes place a bit in the future as well in an alternate reality where people don’t even know if the ‘X-Men’ or Brotherhood are still around so having Paquin playing the part wouldn’t be a stretch.

So what did Moyer have to say when asked about it? He seems pretty positive about the idea though hesitant:

“Well, obviously she is in the X-Men universe. Her character, obviously, could possibly … I don’t know, I don’t quite understand the timeline because obviously, the X-Men timeline is very, very specific, so never say never, but I don’t know. I don’t want to say anything that gets me into trouble.”

That makes perfect sense. With ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ having restarted the timeline once and no indication that ‘The Gifted’ takes place in any of the known cinematic versions we’ve seen makes it hard to tell if her as the character has even existed at this point. Even so, it would be a great way to not only bring an established X-Men into the fold who doesn’t mind doing television and use a vastly underutilized character which fans would love to see more of.

Well, Moyer is clearly interested in it, but there is likely a lot of red tape that they’d have to get through to make this happen. Fox hasn’t been touting Marvel Studios’ “It’s All Connected” tagline at all, so it seems unlikely to be the case.
