Most fans agree that James Cameron‘s ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day‘ is the best in the series and now we’ve got a trailer for a 3D re-release of the film to share with you! Arnold Schwarzennegger is back as the T-800 in one of the best action films ever made and soon you can check it out in 3D! If that’s your thing that is. The plan is to release it in August after 30 years with all of the special effects remastered.

Not only is it being made for 3D but each and every single frame of the film has been remastered to clean it up and make it ready for the conversion.

Distrib Films is the distributor and has released the trailer here where you can pretty quickly notice what has changed for the upcoming release:

The restoration took close to a year and Lightstorm Entertainment which is Cameron’s studio that also kicked off with ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’ oversaw the entire project. It started off by restoring the original 35mm cut to 4K one frame at a time and following that they converted it to 3D.

Not a quick process, even with today’s special effects software and the gurus who have mastered it that work for Cameron.

Unlike some special editions, this looks just to be cleaning up the special effects which honestly didn’t need much work and not changing scenes around.
