To trim down the second season of ‘The Walking Dead‘ the first two episodes were combined, and one of the scenes cut answered a question that many had from the first season. In the fourth episode, we saw our survivors come across a gang who was taking care of a nursing home in Atlanta to protect their families and other living residents. However, no one ever got to find out what happened to them.

Apparently, we were originally supposed to.

A cut scene from the premiere saw Rick’s group heading back that way after the CDC was destroyed and what they found was pretty horrifying:

While Walkers had overrun the building, we find out that they aren’t what slaughtered everyone. All of the gang members had been shot, so it was other survivors who had taken them out. As it was cut, we’ll never know if it was another gang, a plotline which was closed off, a reason for Rick’s group to take more precautions or the first seeds for the eventual introduction to The Governor.

The episode, “What Lies Ahead” would have had quite a bit more cut as well to lower it to an extended episode rather than two but this seems to be the largest focal point. Just like Morgan’s return, many may have been holding out hope that some of the Vatos could show up again. As this was cut and isn’t canon, it is still always a possibility.

Are you sad to hear that this gang which was protecting a nursing hope was wiped out? Do you think that the scene should have been included in the series? Share your thoughts below!
