At a recent press showing of the ‘Doctor Who’ premiere episode of Season 10, a trailer for the second episode was about to play which Steven Moffat warned would contain “a spoiler that may actually melt your brains.” It even came with a countdown warning so those who didn’t want to see the spoiler could close their eyes. Well, we have news of what that spoiler is and he wasn’t wrong!

Things rarely stay a secret on the internet and Moffat wasn’t wrong about this one!

It has been confirmed that John Simm is returning as the Master!

“I can confirm that it’s true, thanks to the power of time travel I’m back,” Simm said. “It’s always a pleasure to work with this great team of people and I can’t wait for you all to see what The Master gets up to in the next series.”

Moffat added, “Nothing stays secret for long on Doctor Who but you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to see exactly what The Master is up to and how he makes his return to face the Doctor. It’s been a huge pleasure to have fan favourites John Simm and Michelle Gomez face to face in the same role! It’s not often you get to see a solo personality clash.”

Whovians will recall that the last time Simm was seen as the Master was in David Tennant’s farewell two-parter ‘The End of Time’ 7 years ago. We were left to wonder what happened to him but in a surprise twist, the character regenerated off screen returning as Missy yet keeping the same maniacal disposition that fans have come to love.

While ‘Doctor Who’ has played with many multi-Doctor episodes in its history, this will be the first multi-Master story the series has done. And we won’t have to wait long to see this as the face off will happen in Episode 2.

My mind is already blown just with all the possibilities. Missy is a great foe for the 12th Doctor and now to double that madness is absolutely gleeful and I’m anticipating the return of the series more than ever!
