Hot on the heels of John Boyega (‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’) sharing a shot of his look as Jake in ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising‘ we now have something you really want to check out – an image of the new Jaegers! Yes, the giant robots that our heroic pilots use to battle the monsters invading Earth have gotten some upgrades and a new look according to this picture. With new giant kaiju for humanity to fight, we’ll, of course, need new robots to fight them.
The new look, of course, doesn’t come from the studio but a tie-in from merchandising which once again strikes spoilers into the hearts of fans the world over.
Let’s take a look!
The latest look to be concept art or paintings and have more of a ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’ vibe than what we had previously seen. While the filmmakers constantly say that the anime wasn’t an inspiration for the films, the concepts and look increasingly seem to say the opposite. The new designs look good but I’m eager to start seeing actual CGI renderings from the film to see if they surpass the original.
All three of these Jaegers look new, though the center one looks quite a bit like Gipsy Danger and makes me wonder if we’ll be getting a surprise cameo even though it supposedly won’t be showing up in the movie.
What do you think about the look of the new Jaegers from ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’? Are you excited for the film? Share your thoughts below!
‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’ is set to rise up onto the big screen on February 23rd, 2018.
