It appears that Peter Dinklage is in early talks to join ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ in a “key role.”  Production of his hit HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’ was shifted for Season Seven from summer to fall and as a result just wrapped up for a summer debut.  This freed up Dinklage’s schedule for him to come aboard the Marvel epic, which is slated to begin production this summer.  The next two ‘Avengers’ movies are expected to shoot back-to-back and whatever role Dinklage is in negotiations for, he will appear in both.

Very little is known about ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ other than it will feature every surviving Marvel Cinematic hero, including all of the Avengers, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy.  And it will feature the clash with warlord Thanos, something that has been teased since the first ‘Avengers’ in 2012.  It will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously helmed ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Captain America: Civil War’.

Pip-The-TrollDinklage previously appeared in a movie starring Marvel characters, 20th Century Fox’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, in which he portrayed heavy Bolivar Trask, inventor of the Sentinels.  But the ‘X-Men’ movies are not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the comics, Trask is not depicted as being a little person, so it’s entirely possible that Dinklage could once again be playing a character that is typically depicted as being average-height.

Buuuuut… and hope this doesn’t sound stereotypical, there IS a Marvel cosmic character who is smaller-than-average, Pip the Troll.  This character is a tough, cigar-chomping companion to Adam Warlock, Gamora and Drax.

Of course, Gamora and Drax are already part of the MCU, as members of the Guardians of the Galaxy.  And ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ introduces Adam Warlock’s female counterpart.  In the comics, she is known simply as Her, but in the film, she will be named Ayesha (played by Elizabeth Debicki).  It’s entirely possible that the films will eschew Adam Warlock entirely and use Ayesha in his place.  And Warlock, Gamora, Drax and Pip all played a large role in the ‘Infinity Gauntlet’ and ‘Infinity War’ miniseries.

Will the filmmakers be adding Pip to their band of space travelers?

But as stated, that’s just a guess and Dinklage may be playing a character from the comics that doesn’t actually resemble him.

What do you think?  Who would you like to see Dinklage portray in the MCU?
