While it had yet to be announced, Benedict Cumberbatch has just confirmed the very unsurprising fact that ‘Doctor Strange‘ will be making an appearance in ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘. While his solo debut is clearly set to inform us about the character, we haven’t yet seen how he will tie into the larger world of superheroes unless the rumored ‘Thor: Ragnarokcameo will be the initial stepping stone of bringing magic into our hearts.

However, the introduction of Strange to our heroes may just as easily not occur until ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ though I truly suspect we’ll be getting an end credit scene and the rumored cameo mentioned above to help introduce him to the larger world.

In a recent interview, Cumberbatch discussed the “logistical challenge of aligning his schedule with those of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany” of getting the Sorcerer Supreme in touch with the rest of The Avengers but it was something that was always in the cards:

“To get us all together will be quite something. That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space see how that unfolds.”

From rumors of Doctor Strange taking over the leadership of The Avengers in Phase 4 and beyond to just having a stronger presence in the film it should be quite interesting to see how his character plays out on screen. With Thor claiming magic is nothing more than advanced science to ‘Ant-Man’ very briefly exploring another realm which could tie into this and even the appearance of Ghost Rider on Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ having supernatural connections it seems that we’re about to be getting some magic in a big way in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.

Not only that, but from what Cumberbatch says it seems like he’ll be having quite a few tricks up his sleeve for us for years to come.
