Prometheus-header

SPOILER ALERT: This contains spoilers from ‘Arrow’ Season 5, so proceed with caution.

The already beleaguered Oliver Queen won’t be getting much rest after defeating Damien Darhk.  Season Five will introduce a deadly villain from the DC Universe, Prometheus.

Oliver’s status is in a bit of disarray as Team Arrow has essentially disbanded, although from these images, Thea will return as Speedy.

To be honest, my least favorite part of ‘Arrow’ is the flashbacks.  How long was he gone?  Isn’t he going to run out of past at some point?

Well, not yet.  In these flashback images, we see Oliver getting involved with the Russian Bratva:

And finally, here’s the ‘Arrow’ version of Prometheus:

PrometheusThough Prometheus isn’t exclusively a Green Arrow foe, he played a notorious role in his life.  During one of his capers, the villain sliced off Roy Harper’s arm before blowing up a large chunk of Star City, killing Roy’s toddler daughter Lian, a child that Oliver considered his granddaughter.  In retaliation, Green Arrow executed him with an arrow through the eye.  This all transpired in the controversial (i.e. everyone hated it) miniseries ‘Justice League: Cry For Justice’.

Prometheus’ high tech suit of armor allows him to download the fighting styles of the world’s top fighters, including Batman.  In his first mission, he actually defeated every member of the Justice League except Superman, whom he attempted to blackmail in exchange for the lives of innocent bystanders.  He was foiled when Catwoman, whom he had not anticipated encountering, snapped him in the crotch with her whip.

In his career, he has murdered fledgling hero Retro, the Blood Pack, Freedom Beast, Gloss and Tasmanian Devil, whom he skinned and made into a rug.  An imposter Prometheus killed The Peacemaker.

The TV version appears to be considerably altered and looks to be another archer, but we’ll have to wait and see how far his version strays from the comic book villain.

Are you excited to see Prometheus arrive in Star City?
