cloak-and-daggerFans of Tandy and Tyrone are going to be lighting up as ‘Cloak & Dagger’ is coming to television!

When my April Fool’s post from five days ago announcing ‘She-Hulk’, ‘Cloak & Dagger’, ‘Bullseye’, and ‘Elektra’ went live, I didn’t realize that at least one of these would be really getting an actual announcement!  ‘Cloak & Dagger’ received a TON of positive feedback and now Freeform Entertainment (formally ABC Family network) has just announced that they are taking the younger duo from the Marvel Universe to the small screen. The network is so keen on the concept that the show is getting a straight to series order.

For those who are unfamiliar with the comic book characters, Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson are two teenagers who were kidnapped and experimented upon giving them amazing new powers. The new series will be a “live-action interracial romance” which follows the two “from very different backgrounds” who gain their powers while falling in love. No word if the powers are gained from kidnapping and experimentation or if they’ll be lightening some of the darker elements for the initial series launch.

Tandy will have the ability to throw light daggers which she creates while Tyrone can engulf others in darkness. If they follow the comics, he will eventually be able to use this darkness to transport the two through it as well.

At this time, no writer, director, or casting has been announced but Marvel Studios and ABC Signature Studios will be co-producing the series. The series will have a young adult audience as their target demographic with those ranging from 14-34 years old.

With multiple Marvel shows on the main ABC network such as ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ‘Agent Carter’, and three in the works it should be no surprise that they would try to develop one that would appeal to younger audiences as well.

Are you looking forward to ‘Cloak & Dagger’? Do you think we’ll see an announcement for ‘She-Hulk’ in the near future? Which network do you think she’ll end up landing on it so? Share your thoughts below True Believers!

Good job, the basic premise behind Cloak and Dagger is the war on drugs, which many series have done exceptionally well on. It should be fairly easy and rewarding to write the storyline, and even the FX shouldn’t be too hard.

Eh, yeah but it is on ABC Family/FreeForm which means I don’t have a ton of hope for it. My dad had the first 5 comics of the series and I remember really liking them…it was a comic, that if treated right, has a ton of potential. I just don’t see that happening with ABC Family. I have been watching that show Stitchers and while the premise is good, I hate the lead actress and how they wrote her….so if that is how they treat Cloak and Dagger, I will be so disappointed.
