Hawkeye-Black-Widow

In ‘Captain America: Civil War’, the heroes are divided in their loyalties between the title patriot, played by Chris Evans and Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.).  Perhaps the split that fans are most worried about is that between Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) two characters whose closeness goes back years as has been teased in the two ‘Avengers’ movies.  In ‘Civil War’, Black Widow sides with Iron Man, despite the bond she formed with Cap in ‘The Winter Soldier’ while Hawkeye is #teamcaptainamerica.

How will this rift impact their friendship?  Well, a new international trailer for ‘Civil War’ has been released and it actually touches on that.  While most of the clip consist of previously seen footage, it does include a tense exchange between these two heroes.

Their talk comes at around the 1:30 mark:

As you can see, while Hawkeye has her on the ropes, Natasha asks, “We’re still friends, right?” To which Hawkeye replies, “It depends on how hard you hit me.”

BlackWidow

Does this mean that these two secret agents are working an angle here?  Is their conflict an act?

Or is this just banter between two warriors on opposing sides of a battle?

Hawkeye

If that’s the case, this light banter probably conflicts with what is being reported to be a deadly battle with at least one hero falling in the line of duty.

Presumably, the hero that falls isn’t one of these two.

How do you think things will shake out for these two longtime friends?  Will it impact their roles as Avengers going forward?
