SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers for ‘Ant-Man’ and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ so if you haven’t seen either, you may want to proceed with caution.

Anthony Mackie was one of the stars on hand for D23, Disney’s annual presentation of upcoming projects.  Mackie joined Chris Evans on stage to unveil never-before-seen footage from next summer’s highly anticipated ‘Captain America: Civil War.’  Mackie made his super hero debut as The Falcon/Sam Wilson in last year’s ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and reprised the role this year in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, in which he officially joined the super group and in a pop-up cameo in ‘Ant-Man’, which sets the stage for ‘Civil War’.

Mackie is slated to have a pretty major role in ‘Civil War’ working side-by-side with both Captain America and The Winter Soldier (Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stan), who was seen trapped at the end of ‘Ant-Man’, to which The Falcon comments that he “knows a guy” who can free him.

After the presentation, Mackie opened up about the brothers-in-arms relationship between the three heroes.

“The relationship between the three characters is more so a bond of kindred friendship. My respect for Cap helps me to help him find Bucky because I know how much that means to him, knowing where he’s come from and everything and what he’s gone through to this point. It’s more so of an understanding and respect than it is three guys chumming around having a good time.

“You’ve got to understand, Cap coming off the last movie, Falcon’s the one guy – having known the least in terms of history – he actually trusts the most. There’s a really nice kinship between these two characters and they do a really good job of picking up where we left off.”

No mention is made of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, who worked with Cap and The Falcon in ‘The Winter Soldier’ and who, according to the screened footage also plays a sizable role in ‘Civil War’.  Maybe she’s too busy in the new flick scrapping with her former BFF Hawkeye to help out.
