Two Marvel women went under the blade… no not plastic surgery, but styling sheers.  Expect new looks for ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’‘s Chloe Bennet/Agent Skye and ‘Avengers’Scarlett Johansson/Black Widow.

First, in Season Two of the TV series ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, Agent Skye, who had been something of an enigma in the past, was revealed to be Daisy Johnson, a character from the comics.  Johnson originated as a regular Agent, but was later revealed to have seismic powers and adopted the codename Quake.

On the show, Skye/Daisy was exposed to the Terrigen Mist, making her an Inhuman, tying her to the unfolding Cinematic Universe, where Marvel has already announced an ‘Inhumans’ movie, due to be released on July 12, 2019.

This is Quake as she appears in the comics:

As you can see, the illustrated version sports a short pixie-type hairdo, while up to this point, Bennett has had long flowing locks.  But come Season Three, expect her to switch things up with a look closer to the source material.  Check out these photos Bennett posted to her Instagram account:

As you can see, Bennett had several inches chopped off, though her hair is still longer than the comic character’s.

This is what Bennett had to say about her new look:

“The comic book version of Daisy Johnson has very short, Miley Cyrus-esque hair. We wanted to stay true to the comic book character fans love; I wanted to please them but also make sure there was still some movement and length and sexiness in the hair.”

What do you think of Skye’s new look?  A nice compromise?

But Bennett’s makeover doesn’t appear to be as extreme as the one experienced by Scarlett Johansson, who plays the Black Widow, the most visible female hero from the Marvel movies.  Johansson will reprise her role in next year’s ‘Captain America: Civil War.’

Over the course of four films, she has sported nearly as many hair styles.  In her first film, ‘Iron Man 2’, she had long curly hair.  In ‘Captain Ametica: The Winter Soldier’, her hair was still long but straight.  And in both ‘Avengers’ movies, she had a shorter, wavy bob.

But now, it seems she’s going a bit extreme, at least in this candid photo snapped on the film’s set:

Though her head is mostly concealed with a hat, the back of her head appears shaved.  It seems that Black Widow will be adopting a shorter, edgier do, similar to the one she sported for many years, in the 80s-90s:

She mostly sported this shorter cut when she wore a simple dark gray bodysuit and was mostly a solo character, although she was dating Daredevil and shared adventures with him as well.

What do you think of these shorter styles?  Does it make better sense for a crime fighter to have sleeker hair?  Or do you prefer a lusher, more glam look?
