Rumors lately have been emerging regarding Sony’s Spider-Man franchise and the rocky ground that Andrew Garfield is on with regards to playing the webslinger. Add in that the studios’s ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ franchise may come to a close and a new incarnation could either join Marvel‘s wheelhouse or be restarted as a cartoon. News has been going back and forth on what is happening but now it sounds as if Sony has invited Marvel to the upcoming Spidey Summit in January in a bit way.

The interesting part is the source for all of this is apparently the same one that initially provided the information on how Vision would look in ‘Avengers Age of Ultron’ so this particular “source” has a track record of solid intelligence from within the studio.

That’s right folks, January is when Sony is figuring out what to do with what should be their most lucrative franchise and now Marvel Studios executives have been invited to sit down at their table. Not only that, but the meeting is at Pinewood Studios which is more of Marvel’s home these days as it is where the Avengers films have been shot. Included in the meeting will be two big names, Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Sony’s Amy Pascal.

If this meeting bears fruit, one of the plans may be to include an after-credit scene for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ that would introduce Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This would still allow for some quick re-writes to be able to potentially include the hero in ‘Captain America: Civil War‘ and you know that everyone involved in that movie has to be quickly thinking how to fit Parker in as the film is set to begin production in either February or March of 2015.

Further rumors have the Russo Brothers coming off their big ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘ win to not only tackle the ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ but a new ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy as well!

If this is to happen, Feige appears to want Avi Arad out of the mix which many may agree is the reason Spidey hasn’t been living up to his full potential. With the two companies sitting down at the table (and rumors having Sony’s Japanese Executives pushing for this to happen as well), we may all have some great news to ring the new year in with.

What are your thoughts True Believers? Are we going to see Spidey somewhat fall back into the Marvel fold and actually get to see Parker become an Avenger? Are you excited as I am about this news or are you taking it with a grain of salt to not get your hopes up? Share your thoughts below!
