Back in September 2013, AMC announced that the world of ‘The Walking Dead‘ would be expanding with a spinoff debuting in 2015. Since then, the show has acquired the mysterious title of ‘Cobalt’ and some cast members for the pilot were revealed. Through these developments, we learned that it would be more of a companion series rather than a spinoff because it wouldn’t feature any of the characters or locations that we’ve seen so far in the adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s acclaimed Image Comics series. But now we finally know where the show will be set.

According to TV Line, the potential series will be set in Los Angeles, CA. At this time, it’s unclear whether it will actually be shot in LA considering that ‘The Walking Dead’ is based in Georgia and other cities that can be substituted for the City of Angels might be cheaper options in some cases. However, we do know for certain that the show from original series creator Kirkman and Dave Erickson will explore the early days of the outbreak and how other parts of the world have dealt with the zombie apocalypse in an effort to contain it.

While we wait for more details on ‘Cobalt’, the cast continues to grow. ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ star Frank Dillane, Aussie actress Alycia Debnam Carey, and ‘Gang Related’ alum Cliff Curtis are currently set to star in the pilot. Rumors say that ‘Fringe’ star Anna Torv was in the running for a role at one point, but that trail has since gone cold.

Regardless of all the tidbits that have emerged recently, information about the upcoming pilot is still pretty scarce. Despite that, are you excited to finally see what ‘Cobalt’ is all about? Let us know in the comments below.
