‘Fargo’ star Joey King is headed from snowy Minnesota to the always-sunny Central City to appear on ‘The Flash’ as Magenta.  Magenta, a.k.a. Frances Kane was a supporting character for Wally West shortly after he took on the identity of The Flash following Barry Allen’s death in ‘Crisis On Infinite Earth’.  She had magnetic powers which ultimately drove her insane and she became a villain.  She ultimately joined Flash’s Rogues Gallery.

Frances Kane was first introduced in 1982 in the pages of ‘The New Teen Titans’ when she thought her powers were the result of demonic possession.  She has been a reluctant hero and a villain, so it remains to be seen how the show will handle her.

Given King’s age, 17, it would make more sense to pair her with Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) who will be suiting up as Kid Flash in the upcoming season.  King will make her debut on ‘The Flash’ in the third episode of the upcoming third season, which kicks off in October.

King has been acting nearly her entire life, getting her start ten years ago on ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ and making subsequent appearances in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ in which she played the China Girl opposite James Franco.  She starred in the acclaimed FX series ‘Fargo’ as well as ‘Funny or Die’s Tween Fest’.  She was seen this past summer in ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’.  She will appear in several upcoming films, including ‘Zeroville’, ‘Stargirl’ (not affiliated with the DC super hero of the same name), ‘Camp’, ‘Age of the Moon’, ‘Smartass’ and ‘Going In Style’.

It’s unclear how many episodes of ‘The Flash’ King will appear in, so it could be a one-off turn or she may wind up as a recurring character.
