Can’t get enough of AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’?  The show is the highest rated program on cable, so it makes sense that the network plans to cash in by creating a spin-off that will focus on a different group of survivors in an entirely different part of the zombie-ravaged world.  ‘The Walking Dead’s’ Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert will be on-board to executive produce and the new series should debut in 2015.

Comic book creator Robert Kirkman explains:

“After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of ‘The Walking Dead’ universe.  The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”

So clearly, this is something completely new, not based on the comics.  Hmmm… could be interesting.  Or could it be too much of a good thing?  I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.

Charlie Collier, AMC’s president and general manage added:

“Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer.  We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

So an entirely new cast of survivors?  What do you think?  Are you intrigued by the idea of a brand new group?  Or are Rick and company enough for you?  Are there any characters from the comics that have yet to appear on the show that you’d like to see?  (Ezekiel and Shiva!  Jesus!)  Comment below!
